Club News 2018

A stunning forty five points from Castlehume member Peter Fivey was the winning score at Captain Bobby Beacom's big day at Castlehume on Saturday. Peter was in outstanding form as he recorded a string off Pars and Birdies in a flawless round of controlled Golf and some short game magic.  The dream to win the Captains Day prize could not even be dented with a "no score" on the 18th as he hit a lovely pin high approach onto the Green that just rolled off into the bunker.  Despite this small set back, the 45 Stableford point score was to prove unbeatable as the rest of the large field returned their Cards.  Congratulations to Peter on a stunning Captains Day performance.
The Castlehume Course had been set up to a very high standard with the Greens and fairways in their full blaze of Glory as the afternoon sunshine brought a very successful and entertaining Captains Day to a fitting climax.  That was in the form of a wonderful Hole in One from Castlehume member Gerry Flynn.  A well struck iron to the Par 3 14th never left the Pin and it was with great delight that Gerry retrieved the ball from the Cup.
The other formal results from Captains day is as follows:-
2nd Place - Gary Calderwood -43 points
3rd Place - Pat Duffy - 41 points

members and visitors who supported the day

I wish to congratulate all the winners on my Captains Day.  And i must say I am thrilled at the scores. Especially Peter who had a fantastic 45. And a ding on the 18th.  A big cut in your handicap is due.

I'm sure the high scoring was due to the fine condition of the course.   I don't remember it in better shape. So a big thanks to Shaun and his team.

I would like to thank everyone  for your wonderful support on my Captains Day.  Thanks very much for all your gifts and very generous donations, you helped to raise £700 for my charity the RNLI.

This is a fantastic amount to start our fund raising year.

Rosie and I are planning a fund raising day later in the year which I hope you will give your full support for this very worthy cause. Full details will be published at a later date.

I wish Rosie all the best for her Captains day on 30th of June and am asking you to support her all you can.
