Club AGM 2017

The AGM of the club will be held at the clubhouse on Monday 4th December.

Our Irish fourball team finished the 2017 campaign on Saturday 16h September. Playing against Royal Curragh at Millicent golf club it wasn,t to be an All Ireland medal this year. Captains Malcolm and Damien did a tremendous job getting an Ulster title with this team and representing the club all through Ulster. It takes great commitment from the players to give up their time to progress in this competition. Well done Ulster  Champions !!.

Registration for the 2017 winter league is open in the pro shop from 18th September. The league starts on 9th October and runs until 3rd of December. The format is a 4 man team with 2 scores to count. This competition is open to our new Get into Golf beginners who will be given a temporary handicap for this competition only. We encourage our members to ask one of the beginners to join them on their team as this would be an excellent way to introduce them to playing  golf at Castle Hume. Once again we thank Peter Stuart for his kind sponsorship of this competition.

Can I on behalf of the Committee welcome you to membership of Castle Hume Golf Club for 2017.

It is an honour and a pleasure to have been nominated as your Captain, and I hope you will enjoy the full benefits of membership throughout the year.

Can I warmly welcome Bobby Beacon (Vice- Captain); Eamon McPhilips and John Rutledge onto the Committee.

Bobby will be looking after the interests of our “senior” members with a number of monthly competitions, outings and events to encourage all our “senior members” to meet up throughout the year. We have a significant number of members in this category and I hope you will join us.  Further information will be released soon.

The development of junior golf is very much a work in progress and I would encourage all members to promote junior membership at the Club.

We have access to first class coaching both at Castle Hume and the Lough Erne Academy and with the support of members we can continue to develop this important aspect of the Club.

Junior Competitions will continue throughout the year during School Holidays and all children are invited to consider membership of the Club.

Eamon McPhilips will be representing the Club in our partnership with our sponsors.  Without the wonderful support and commitment that we have enjoyed from our sponsors over the years, the Club would not have been as successful. I look forward to continuing this relationship in 2017.

As you may be aware, the Golf Union of Ireland is keen to improve communications with all registered Golf Clubs.

In this regard, Barry McCauley, Club Secretary, has been appointed by the Club as the GUI Club Communications Officer. He will be the single point of contact for the GUI and will provide updates and information throughout the year on all matters that affect Club members.

The chosen Charity this year that is also being supported by the Ladies Section is the “Alzheimer’s Association”.

I will be running a number of events throughout the year, and I would value your support to this important cause. Further details will be released.

Can I remind all members that Castle Hume Club house/ Restaurant/Bar is a very important part of our membership benefits. The Restaurant is fully staffed throughout the year and is providing full Bar and Restaurant facilities for all Club members and visitors.

This location is a great place to meet and enjoy all the food and facilities on offer.  Can I encourage all our members to pay a visit and support Roy and Jeanette.  They would love to see you.

In closing can I wish all our members a very enjoyable golfing year at Castle Hume and look out for details of the events that we have planned for this coming year. I look forward to seeing you.
